High-resolution MRI scan of an eye tumour at Leiden UMC

MReye group

advancing eye care through applied imaging science

We are a multidisciplinary research group embedded within the C.J. Gorter MRI Center, and the LUMC departments of Ophthalmology, Radiology and Radiation Oncology. We develop and evaluate new MRI techniques to advance care for patients with ocular conditions. Currently, a large part of our research focuses on uveal melanoma, the most common type of eye cancer in the Netherlands.

Main Research Topics

  • T1-weighted MRI of uveal melanoma

    MRI for Ocular Oncology

New MRI technologies to improve the care for eye cancer patients.

  • MRI-based proton therapy dose planning for eye tumour

    Ocular Proton Therapy

Through MRI-based radiotherapy planning we aim to preserve more of our patients’ vision.

  • Ray tracing simulation of intraocular lens optics

    Visual Optics

Patient-specific optical simulations to identify the causes of various ocular conditions.
